Bobbi the Capybara

Introducing Bobbi the capybara! So exited to share this pattern with you! I love Bobbi, I think that little strawberry bonnet makes it just too cute. It is a pretty simple pattern but you'll need to know how to make a popcorn stitch which is fairly easy to learn if you are not familiar with it.
For this pattern I used 3 mm crochet hook, stuffing, tapestry needle, Dk yarn: light brown 15 g, dark brown, a little of black and pink, for the strawberry bonnet: bright pink 10 g, green and white, for the panda bonnet: white 10 g and black.

The capy is going to measure 10 cm / 3,9 inches approx.

To place the eyes, find the first and last decreases from R12, use them as a guide along with the "hands" (the popcorn stitches) so we make the eyes somewhat in line with them. With black yarn make a horizontal line for each eye between R7-8 leaving eight stitches in between them.

With pink yarn make a horizontal line to the side of each eye between R8-9.

Sew the nose between R7-11 centered between the eyes.

EARS:

With dark brown.

Make two.

3 ch
R1: 1 sc , sc inc, rotate and work on the opposite side of chain: sc inc [5]

R7-11: 1 ch, turn, 26 sc [26]

Cut the yarn. You can secure this end now or work over it when making the straps.

STRAPS:

16 ch, sc into the last sc of the bonnet, then place 1 sc on the side of rows 6-11 (that will be 6 sc), now we are placing 6 sc on the next 6 stitches and then 1 sc on the side of the rows (6 sc), now sc on the next sc, then ch 16.
Finish off by knotting the end of each chain and cut the yarn as close as possible.

STRAWBERRY BONNET (LEAVES AND SEEDS):

Sew the leaves to the top of the bonnet.

With white yarn embroider some lines to make the strawberry seeds.

PANDA BONNET (EARS):

Make two.

With black.

R1: 6 sc in mr, sl st on first st to close ring.

Break yarn leaving enough for sewing.
Sew to the top of the bonnet between R8-9 about 6 stitches apart.
