Frog in a Hat

Frogs! Cute little creatures aren't they? If you think so too, I wanna share with you this free pattern to make a froggy in a cowboy hat and/or mushroom beret.
To make these I used: 6 mm safety eyes, optional for the cowboy hat a small bead, tapestry needle, stuffing, 3 mm hook, DK yarn in colors: green 30 g, pink for cowboy hat 5 g, red for mushroom beret 5 g, a bit of pink for cheeks and a little bit of black embroidery floss.
The doll is going to measure 11 cm / 4,3 inches tall.

Hope you enjoy!

If you want a pdf version of this pattern you can find it in my Etsy shop: https://hisheepok.etsy.com/listing/1041611333/frog-in-a-hat-crochet-pattern-amigurumi

You can also use other yarn weight and hook size. For this one I used a 4,mm crochet hook with chenille yarn and it measures about 20 cm.

  4. Hello
I've just made the head, but now realise there's no space to insert the stuffing. When and how should I have done that?
    Any advice welcome.
    Thank you 😊

    1. Hi! So, normally you would just stuff it as you work. But no problem, you can just unravel one or two rounds, stuff and then do the rounds you've unmade again. Remember to use a stitch marker so you know where your round end and start tho!

  6. I've been making this project and realized I've been doing front loops only and not going through both loops. I didn't know if it will still work but I'm also having trouble getting through both loop things. If you have any tips let me know please. (I'm a beginner)

    1. Hi! I would say that you have two options, start again from scratch or keep working it in the front loops which will make the stitches look a different but at the end of the day you'd have the little froggy. About the both loops thing, look at your stitch from the "top" and you have the little things that look like this > so those are the both loops you have to instert the hook in. Hope I helped with this but let me know if not and I'll give it another try!

    1. Hi! Currently I only have the youtube video for Merry the christmas frog which is very similar to this one, the only thing different is the arms and color changes so maybe that one can help. But this guys are on my list to film so they are coming soon!

  8. I love how my little frog friend is turning out! I used safety eyes that were a bit bigger than in the picture and added some more detail to the face. I will be making it an orange fuzzy mushroom beret out of alpaca yarn. 😊 Thank you for the wonderful pattern! πŸΈπŸ§‘πŸ„

  9. Hi! I love this pattern! Do we have to use DK yarn or can I use worsted weight? I've never worked with a thinner yarn, so I feel most comfortable sticking with worsted. Will it still turn out ok?

    1. Heey! You can use another yarn/hook size no problem, what it will change is the size of the product at the end but other than that it works with whatever. I actually made a froggy with this pattern using velvety yarn and a 4,5 mm hook which I think looks super cute (I just uploaded a pic for reference). Hope you enjoy!!
