Holidays Polar Bears

 

 
Holidays special free pattern to make these polar bears dressed as Santa Claus and a little helper elf by Hi Sheep.
We are going to need DK yarn colors: white (Santa 30gr, Elf 25gr), red (Santa 15gr, Elf 7gr), green (Elf 15gr), black (Elf 5gr), yellow and a bit of brown and a bit of pink, 3 mm crochet hook, stuffing and 8 mm safety eyes.
The bears without the hat will be 11 cm / 4,3 inch tall.

HEAD:

With white.

R1: 6 sc in mr
R2: *sc inc* [12]
R3: *1 sc, sc inc* [18]
R4: *2 sc, sc inc* [24]
R5: *3 sc, sc inc* [30]
R6: *4 sc, sc inc* [36]
R7: *5 sc, sc inc* [42]
R8-14: 42 sc [42]
R15: *5 sc, sc dec* [36]
R16: *4 sc, sc dec* [30]

Place eyes between R12-13, leaving 6 stitches between each.

R17: *3 sc, sc dec* [24]
R18: *2 sc, sc dec* [18]
R19: *1 sc, sc dec* [12]
R20: *sc dec* [6]

Close.

Embroider a "T" with brown color to make a nose between R13-16, for the rosy cheeks make a horizontal line between R13-14 with pink.
 

 
EARS:

Make two.

R1: 7 sc in mr
R2: *sc inc* [14]
R3-4: 14 sc [14]

Break yarn leaving enough for sewing.

Sew between R3-9 of the head.
 
Once arms and legs are done and sewed on, we can sew the head to the body.
 

 
SANTA CLAUS BEAR:


BODY:

Starting with white.

R1: 7 sc in mr
R2: *sc inc* [14]
R3: *1 sc, sc inc* [21]
R4: *2 sc, sc inc* [28]
R5-7: 28 sc [28]

Change color to red.

R8: *2 sc, sc dec* [21]

Change color to black.

R9: 21 sc [21]

Change color to red.

R10: *5 sc, sc dec* [18]
R11: 18 sc [18]
R12: *4 sc, sc dec* [15]

Break yarn leaving enough for sewing.

With yellow yarn embroider a small rectangle on R9 to make the buckle.

 

 
ARMS:

Make two.

Starting with white.

R1: 6 sc in mr
R2-3: 6 sc [6]

Change color to red.

R4-6: 6 sc [6]

Break yarn leaving enough for sewing.

Sew between R11-12 of the body.

 

 
LEGS:

Make two.

With white.

R1: 5 sc in mr

R5: *3 sc, sc dec* [8]

Break yarn leaving enough for sewing.

Sew between R4-7 of the body.

 

 
HAT:

With red.

Change color to white.

R21-22: 36 hdc [36]

Break yarn, secure and hide loose ends.

To finish make a small white pompom and sew it to the start of the hat.

 


 
ELF BEAR:


BODY:

With white.

R1: 7 sc in mr

Change color to red.

R2: *sc inc* [14]

With white.

R3: *1 sc, sc inc* [21]

With red.

R4: *2 sc, sc inc* [28]

With white.

R5: 28 sc [28]

With red.

R6: 28 sc [28]

With white.

R7: 28 sc [28]

Change color to green.

R8: *2 sc, sc dec* [21]

Change color to black.

R9: 21 sc [21]

Change color to green.

R10: *5 sc, sc dec* [18]
R11: 18 sc [18]
R12: *4 sc, sc dec* [15]

Break yarn leaving enough for sewing.

Follow the pattern from Santa Claus bear's hat but with green replacing red and with red replacing white.


LITTLE HAT BALL:

With red.

R1: 5 sc in mr.
R2: *sc inc* [10]
R3-4: 10 sc [10]
R5: *sc dec* [5]

Close.

Sew it to the start of the hat.
