Lamp Genie - Aladdin




You will be able to make three wishes with this new pattern of the Magic Lamp Genie by Hi Sheep.
We need: yarn (light blue, blue, yellow, red and black), black embroidery floss, crochet hook 3 mm, safety eyes 8 mm, stuffing, pipe cleaner, weight for the base and the center of the lamp. The Genie and the lamp together will measure 24 cm / 9,4 inch tall approx.

ABBREVIATIONS (U.S.):

R: Round
ch: chain
mr: magic ring
sl st: slip stitch

HEAD - BODY - LAMP BEGINNING:

NOTE: Use a pipe cleaner that goes from the head to the beginning of the lamp to shape the lower part.

Start with light blue.

R4: *2 sc, sc inc* [32]
R5-14: 32 sc [32]

Place eyes between R10-11.

R15: *2 sc, sc dec* [24]
R16: *1 sc, sc dec* [16]
R17: *2 sc, sc dec* [12]
R18: *1 sc, sc inc*[18]
R19:  *2 sc, sc inc* [24]
R20-22: 24 sc [24]

Change color to red.

R23: 24 sc [24]
R24: *6 sc, sc dec* [21]

Change to blue.

R25: 21 sc [21]
R26: *5 sc, sc dec* [18]
R27: *4 sc, sc dec* [16]
R28: *3 sc, sc dec* [12]
R29-30: 12 sc [12]

Change to yellow.

Break yarn leaving enough to sew.






ARMS:

Make two.
Start with light blue.

R1: 6 sc in mr
R2-3: 6 sc [6]

With yellow.

R4-5: 6 sc [6]

With light blue.

R6: 6 sc [6]
R7: 5 sc, sc inc [7]
R8: 7 sc
R9: 6 sc, sc inc [8]
R10: 8 sc

Break yarn leaving enough to sew.


EARS:

Make two.

Break yarn leaving enough to sew.


PONYTAIL:

With black.

R1: 5 sc in mr
R2: 5 sc [5]
R3: (1 sc, sc inc) x2, 1 sc [7]
R4-6: 7 sc [7]

Change to yellow.

R7: (1 sc, sc dec) x2, 1 sc [5]
R8: 5 sc [5]

Break yarn leaving enough to sew.





LAMP CENTER:

NOTE: Place some weight on the center and base of the lamp to support the genie.

With yellow.

R1: 6 sc in mr
R2: *sc inc* [12]
R3: (sc inc) x3, 3 sc, (sc inc) x3, 3 sc [18]
R4: (1 sc, sc inc) x3, 3 sc, (1 sc, sc inc) x3, 3 sc [24]

R6-9: 30 sc [30]
R10: *3 sc, sc dec* [24]
R11: *2 sc, sc dec* [18]

Break yarn and close.


LAMP BASE:

With yellow.

R1: 7 sc in mr
R2: *sc inc* [14]

R5: back loop only *2 sc, sc dec* [21]
R6: *1 sc, sc dec* [14]
R7: 14 sc [14]
R8: *5 sc, sc dec* [12]

Break yarn leaving enough to sew.


LAMP HANDLE:

With yellow.

15 ch
R1: 14 sc, 1 ch, turn [14]
R2: 14 sc, 1 ch, turn [14]
R3: 14 sc [14]

Join foundation chain and last row with slip stitches.
Break yarn leaving enough to sew.


LAMP TOP:

With yellow.

R1: 6 sc in mr
R2: 6 sc [6]

Break yarn leaving enough to sew.





BEARD:

19 ch

Leave a tail at the beginning and end to sew to face.


GOATEE:

6 ch

Leave a tail at the beginning and end to sew to face.


JOINING:

Sew the ears between R10-11 of body/head, the hair between R1-2 on the back.

Eyebrows between R8-9.Sew beard between R11-12 below the ears.
The goatee between R15-16 through the middle of the beard.

Sew arms between R18-19.
Sew the lamp top on R1 of the lamp center, the handle between R5-7 and R9-11.
The lamp base will go between R11-12.

We'll sew the doll to the lamp between R5-8 opposite to the handle.






GENIE AND LAMP DETACHED

If we are making the genie and lamp detached we won't need the pipe cleaner or weight.


GENIE:

Work R1 to R33 of "HEAD - BODY - LAMP BEGINNING".

R34: dec, 8 sc [9]
R35: dec, 7 sc [8]
R36: dec, 6 sc [7]

Close.


LAMP BEGINNING:

R1: 6 sc in mr
R2: *2 sc, sc inc* [8]

Follow instructions from R35 to R42 of "HEAD - BODY - LAMP BEGINNING".

    1. Hi! You'd have to put in the pipe cleaner in the doll (like it's drawn on the picture after the head/body) and then also some sort of weight to put on the base of the lamp, could be whatever just has to weight a little more than the doll itself :)

    1. Thank you! To make the lamp separate you should follow the HEAD - BODY - LAMP BEGINNING" pattern until R33 and then follow "GENIE" pattern (at the end of the page where it says "genie and lamp detached") to finish off the genie. And then to make the lamp you sould follow the lamp beginning (again where it says "genie and lamp detached") and from there follow R35 to R42 of "HEAD - BODY - LAMP BEGINNING"
